Welcome & check-in

Finding us

GPS sometimes lands a few houses early. Trust the granite post at the end of the driveway reading 156 — that's us.

Parking

Park in the garage or the driveway — up to 6 vehicles comfortably. No need to call ahead about parking unless your group is larger than that.

Getting in

The front door has a keypad deadbolt. Your unique code for your stay will be sent before arrival — it's set fresh for every booking, so please don't share it beyond your group.

Check-in and check-out are both at noon. Need to arrive earlier or leave later? Text us at least 24 hours ahead and we'll do what we can, though it's not always guaranteed depending on other bookings.

Heat & air conditioning

There are three thermostats — Great Room, primary bedroom, and the twin beds room. The Great Room unit is set before your arrival so most of the house should already be comfortable. Feel free to adjust any of the three to your liking during your stay.

Safety on site

A fire extinguisher and first aid kit are in the pantry off the kitchen. There are Ring cameras on the front and back exterior of the house for security — there are no cameras anywhere inside.

Books

We love reading and maintain a small collection of books in the house under the TV. If you get into a story but don't have time to finish, you are welcome to take it home with you. We add to the library often.

Furniture

Ron is a professional craftsman and there are several examples of his work throughout the lake house. If you are interested in seeing more or are considering a commission for your own home, you can visit New England Table Company.

In an emergency, call 911 first. The nearest hospital is in Concord, about 20 minutes away. For anything non-urgent during your stay, text Ron at 781-910-7727 or Anne at 617-816-7134 — we're quick to respond.

Enjoying your stay

Harmony House is yours to relax into. A few notes on making the most of it, and a couple of things to be mindful of, so it stays this way for the next family too.

Make yourself at home

  • Both fireplaces are yours to use — please don't leave a fire unattended
  • Kayaks and the paddleboard are available at the dock
  • Life jackets and cornhole are in the deck box
  • The books, games, and grill are all for guest use

A couple of house notes

  • The basement is not part of the rental — please stay out, it's used for storage and mechanical equipment
  • Bagged trash should stay inside the garage, never left outside — we do get bears, and it doesn't take long for them to find something out on the driveway
Quiet hours are 8:30pm to 8:00am. We're on a residential lake with close neighbors, so we ask that things wind down outside and on the water by then.

Check-out

Check-out is at noon. We know mornings are for coffee on the dock, not chores — this should take about fifteen minutes.

Before you go

  • Bag up trash and leave it in the garage — please don't leave bags outside (see above on bears)
  • Give the house a general tidy — dishes washed and put away, surfaces clear
  • Leave linens on the beds; no need to strip them
  • Pile used towels on the floor in the laundry room
  • Set thermostats back to 65° (heating) or 74° (cooling)
  • Turn off all lights
  • Lock up using the front door keypad on your way out
That's it — no key to return, the keypad handles everything. Thank you for leaving it the way you found it.

House rules

We treat Harmony House the way we'd want a fine hotel treated, and we ask the same of every guest who stays here.
